Students of the Master's in Scientific Information and Mediation in the Environment at Aix -Marseille University are launching invitations for their annual conference on the theme of millets chosen by the United Nations.
These cereals, widely consumed in Africa and Asia but rarely used in Europe, are nevertheless full of potential. Requiring little water, resilient, and nutritious, their popularization would help diversify the global cereal landscape by meeting certain Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The day will allow us to address different themes through various presentations during which millets will be discussed from seed to plate. Anthropologists, biologists, sociologists, journalists… Many of them will come to introduce you to millets.
The speakers:
Estelle Herrscher – Paleofood anthropologist (LAMPEA, AMU, CNRS). Françoise Toulemonde – Archaeobotanist-carpologist (AASPE, MNHN-CNRS). Martin Gomez – International development officer at Sorghum ID. Farah Keram – Food journalist and author. Yves Vigouroux – Research director in biology (IRD). Claire Mouquet – Research director in nutrition and food (IRD). Mohamed Zellama – Founder and director of Ori Sorgho. Cynthia Martinez – Nutrition and Sport Ambassador at Ori Sorgho
The day will be punctuated by activities from the ISME Master's students.
